A beautiful story about how easy it is to change the world around you

There is an old lady living in the entrance of our house. Grandma Lyuba. She is 97 years old. She is a sweet, pleasant old lady, always in a good mood, smiling and friendly. For me, she is an enlightened leader. I was not in my right mind when I saw her sitting on the bench at the entrance. Let me explain why I think so.

At first, Grandma Lyuba decorated the windowsills on our floor and in our entrance with pots of flowers. It was beautiful. The next day, the brightest flowers, the ones with buds, were stolen, and near the metro you could see nimble traders with pots of grandma’s flowers. The neighbors decided to put a lock and intercom on the front door. And she hung frames on the walls with quotes from great people that awaken the conscience and act as commandments. And she put flowers on the windowsill again. It was cozy. Noisy teenagers began to enter the entrance. Grandma Lyuba came out and… offered them water or tea. They laughed for a long time. They tore up the flowers and overturned the frames.

The next day, she put the flowers back in, restored the frames to their original appearance, and put the books on the windowsill. Classics. The teenagers came over. They made a lot of noise. She went out and… offered them tea with her appetizing looking and deliciously smelling pies. The boys could not refuse. They even brought books with them with a promise to read them. They didn’t touch the flowers or the frames. The next day, she brought out a plastic bottle of water so that anyone who decided to take care of the flowers could water them. In the evening, the teenagers came over, poured water on each other, laughed and made a lot of noise. Grandma came out to them again and offered them tea and buns, took a bottle, filled it with water, and asked them to water the flowers. The boys began to come to the entrance every day. The neighbors were outraged and even called the police, but the grandmother said that it was her students who came to get books, and she handed out books to the confused teenagers and saw the police off: “Godspeed!”

A bookcase with books appeared in the entrance. And next to it was an announcement: “Please! If you have interesting and important books at home that you have already read, please share them! Please do! And those who have borrowed them, please return them to those who may also need and want them!” The closet was filled with books. Flowers appeared on the windowsills on all floors. Beautiful frames with quotes appeared too. Every evening, the front door to the entrance was left open. In the evening, teenagers could be seen reading books on the stairs. The grandmother put several flashlights on the windowsill to make it easier for them to read. The children sat in the entrance with the flashlights on, and it was lighter than usual. My grandmother died.

A club for children and teenagers was opened on the first floor of our house. It had a library and flowers on the windowsills. The symbol of the club was a flashlight…

Do you think this grandmother can be called an enlightened leader?

Let me explain why I started the story with the word “lives” and not “lived”. Because it seems that she still lives in our entrance, house, club, city, country, planet, and the Universe. It is living Love. Isn’t it?
