A heartwarming story of kindness that melts the heartAn old woman, Maria, was standing in the store, leaning on her cane. She was carefully looking at the price tags when she heard a child’s voice from the side: – “What would you like to buy, grandma?” a girl of about 7 years old asked her. – “Oh, just a little bit of everything you need. Why are you interested, child? – Well, my dad and I are going to buy something for you right now. – What do you mean? What do you mean?” asked Grandma Maria, confused. – “Well, whatever you need. – I just came to get some bread. – Then we’ll buy some bread. I’ll be right back! In a minute, the girl returned holding her father’s hand. – “Please don’t be shy,” the man said. “My daughter and I, when we come to the store, she chooses who she wants to help. Take what you are going to buy. We will be happy to pay for your purchases. – Oh, come on, kids. You don’t have to pay for me. I get a pension, I have a vegetable garden near the house, and I keep five chickens. With egg prices like they are, my chickens help me out a lot. In the city, you have to pay for everything, but in the village, do we need much? Thank you, children. God bless you! – Let me help you, grandma. What else would you like besides bread?” the girl insisted. Grandma Maria didn’t know what to say at such kindness. – “But since I get my pension, I also take sausages, the cheapest ones. – “I understand,” the girl’s father spoke up. “You could stand here with our shopping cart, and my daughter and I will quickly take everything for you. – “No, please, children,” Grandma Maria started to refuse again, but the father and daughter had already disappeared somewhere in the supermarket aisles. As I drove up to the supermarket parking lot, I saw an old lady from afar. She was standing with a bag at her feet, holding a loaf of bread and boiled sausage. When I approached the supermarket door, I saw that the old lady was crying. – “Are you okay? Can I help you?” I asked excitedly. The old lady hesitated, then wiped her tears and asked quietly: – “Maybe you have a knife in your car. I’d like to cut a piece of sausage, you see how big it is. I went to the car, brought a folding knife, and helped her cut the bread and sausage. Then my grandmother carefully packed everything in a bag with buckwheat, macaroni, cheese, and tangerines. – “So, grandma, what were you crying about, the knife? – “Oh, child, I don’t know, but… And Grandma Maria told me, with a tender sense of gratitude, the story from the supermarket that you just read above. I stood there silently, feeling this story move me to tears. – You see, grandma, our world is not without good people. – Yes, son, I see that… But I have not seen such sincere kindness for a long time. Not for anything, not for anything, but just from the heart… She looked up at the sky and said something as if remembering something: – “My mom used to say: “Do good, and it will definitely come back to you.” I have lived my whole life with this instruction. But I did not think that good would return even when you are already weak and do not expect anything… Baba Maria wiped away her tears once again with a happy smile. Then she took a tangerine out of the bag, peeled it, and handed me the larger half: – “Take it, son. May good things come back to you. I couldn’t help but take it. Then I accompanied my grandmother to her bus and promised myself to do more good so that such stories would not be rare. |
