“I found a note from my father written before I was born.” A short, touching story

My dad is the best dad you could ever dream of. He’s a wonderful loving husband to my mom, a caring father to me who doesn’t miss a single soccer game of mine, plus he’s a great boss around the house.

This morning I went to my dad’s toolbox for pliers and found an old note. It was a page from his journal. It was written exactly one month before I was born and it said:

“I am an alcoholic with a criminal record who got kicked out of college, but for the sake of my unborn daughter, I will change and be the best dad in the world. I’m going to be the daddy I never had for her.”

I don’t know how, but he did.
