Memo for husbands who have a wife who ALSO stays home with the baby ….… and not “working from morning till night” as he does.

1) At work, you don’t have to make sure your colleague doesn’t take a typewheel in his mouth, climb on a chair, draw on the wallpaper, or put beads up his nose.

2) You can be sure that your colleague will eat neatly. And you won’t have to clean up spilled soup on the floor.

3) If you decide to go out together at lunchtime, your colleague will get dressed on his own and you won’t be huffing and puffing, trying to put every wiggling toe in his house, his feet in his shoes and his spinning head in his hat.

4) If you do go out, your colleague is unlikely to lie down in a puddle in his new clothes on the street, and you won’t have to wash everything soiled.

5) If by coincidence you and your colleague go shopping, he won’t be begging you to buy everything in sight, promising to behave, and you won’t have to come up with 1,000 reasonable arguments to avoid buying another trinket.

6) If a colleague gets tired, you don’t have to carry him or her back to the office whimpering and waving arms and legs.

7) At work, you won’t have to constantly reprimand your colleague with remarks like: Don’t pick your nose! Don’t wipe your hands on yourself! Don’t suck your thumb!… And if you do, after all, he has his mum, let her blush for him!

8) Surely you do not have a colleague who often out of the blue starts crying. And if there is, you are not obliged to calm him down, even if you know that he himself will not calm down.

9) At work there is no such thing as a day nap. And if there was, you would sleep yourself, not put your colleague to sleep, rocking him in your arms until his eyes finally close by themselves.

10) You don’t have to clean up your colleague’s papers and stationery scattered all over the office.

11) You don’t have to remind him to go to the toilet on time. But even assuming that something happened, you won’t have to clean up the aftermath of the disaster.

12) At work, no one will require you to clean the office and cook breakfast and lunch for everyone.

13) One more thing: work is a place where you can go home and relax after a hard day’s work.
