The Wise Donkey. Or how to save yourself in all the difficulties of life

In an old Jewish parable, a farmer’s donkey fell into a well.

While the farmer was thinking about what to do, the animal made plaintive noises for hours. Finally, the farmer made a decision. He decided that the donkey was old, no longer needed on the farm, and the well had long since dried up, so he invited all his neighbors to do two things at once: fill in the well and bury the donkey at the same time. Everyone took up shovels together. The donkey immediately realized what was going on and began to scream loudly. Then, to everyone’s surprise, it became quiet.

After a while, the farmer decided to see what was happening below. He was surprised by what he saw. With each clod of earth that fell on his back, the donkey did something absolutely incredible: he shook himself and stood on top of the dropped earth.

While the farmer’s neighbors continued to throw earth into the well, each time the animal shook itself and stood on top of the dumped earth. Very soon everyone was surprised to see the donkey climb up, jump over the edge of the well and run away like crazy!

In life, you will encounter a lot of dirt, and each time fate sends you a new portion. Every time a clod of dirt falls, get up and get back up. Each of the problems that arise is an opportunity to get higher. If you don’t stop and don’t give up, you can get out of any well, even the deepest one.

I wish you to remember every moment that every “problem” is a stone that life “throws” at you, but by stepping on these stones, you can cross a raging stream. And what you perceived as a “problem” is nothing more than the building material of your life.

Love and Joy to everyone!
